Marieke is co-author of the chapter Bits, Bytes, Searches, and Hits: Logging-in Accountability for EU Data-led Security (co-authored with Deirdre Curtin). The book is edited by Deirdre Curtin and Mariavittoria Catanzariti.

The book draws attention to the ways in which data by its very nature, and its use by private providers and public authorities-intersects with the boundaries of law. It also shows different angles of and emerging issues in the relationship of data and (European) law. Besides, the book identifies important gaps in transparency and accountability frameworks in relation to emerging practices of public administration in Europe and their regulatory frameworks.
