ACES funds three new Interdisciplinary Research Projects

ACES devotes a key share of its budget to supporting 2,5 year targeted interdisciplinary research projects. These projects are led by ACES affiliates from at least two faculties and address major societal challenges as they play out in a European context, as well as urgent issues concerning the dynamics and direction of contemporary Europe. The first batch of three projects, all co-led by member of the Governing Board, started in 2019 and are concluded in 2021. The next batch of projects are due to start 1 July 2021.

The three selected projects are:

ACES Digital Europe Hub: Building ACES clout for a sustainable European digital cloud

Project Leaders: Ans Kolk (Amsterdam Business School), Kristina Irion (Institute for Information Law, Amsterdam Law School), Stefania Milan (Department of Media Studies)

Free, Fair & Green? Governing Europe’s Trade Relations in a Changing Global Economic Order

Project leaders: Pola Cebulak (Department of European Studies), Sebastian Krapohl (Department of Political Science), Philip Schleifer (Department of Political Science), Geraldo Vidigal (International Trade Law, Amsterdam Law School) and Maria Weimer (European Law, Amsterdam Law School)

Emotions in European Politics: Affective Dynamics and Complex Societal Challenges

Project Leaders: Linda Bos (Department of Communication Science), Hanna L. Muehlenhoff (Department of European Studies), Rosa Sanchez Salgado (Department of Political Science), Andrew Telford (Department of European Studies)
