Time
09:30 -16:00

Structured across four thematic sessions, the workshop begins by examining how existing EU frameworks, such as data protection rules, the Digital Services Act, and the AI Act, address the creation and dissemination of deepfakes, followed by a discussion of recent policy developments and comparative perspectives.

The workshop then turns to its central focus, namely the role of copyright in protecting individuals’ likeness, through dedicated sessions on emerging legislative proposals in the Netherlands and Denmark.

Each session is built around short impulse statements or short presentations designed to stimulate in-depth discussion and exchange among participants. The day concludes with a public IViR Lecture by Professor Dinusha Mendis, which broadens the discussion through a comparative analysis of legal approaches to digital replicas.
