ACES affiliate member Apostolos Andrikopoulos’ book, Argonauts of West Africa: Unauthorized Migration and Kinship Dynamics in a Changing Europe, has received two prestigious awards. This recognition highlights the impact of ACES research support fund, which enabled the author to create this significant work.

The book has been honored with the following two awards:

  • The William A. Douglass Prize in Europeanist Anthropology: Awarded by the Society for the Anthropology of Europe, a section of the American Anthropological Association. For more details, please visit here.
  • The Elliott P. Skinner Book Award: Presented by the Association for Africanist Anthropology, a section of the American Anthropological Association.

The book examines the paradoxes of kinship in the lives of unauthorized African migrants as they struggle for mobility, employment, and citizenship in Europe.
