How many scholars down the corridor, or across the faculty, are working on questions close to your own without either of you knowing it? Large universities connect researchers well within their departments, but far less so across them. Building those bridges is precisely why ACES exists.

Rotating one-on-one conversations
To close the year, we invite scholars to meet in a relaxed, speed-dating format: a series of short, rotating one-on-one conversations in which you introduce your research to another scholar before moving on to the next. No slides, no preparation, just a few minutes each to share what you work on and discover where your interests meet.
Over the event, each participant will meet a dozen or so colleagues in quick succession, with drinks served throughout for a sociable end to the year. The event is open to scholars at all career stages, from PhD researchers to senior academics, at the UvA and beyond, who work on Europe-related questions and would like to connect.
