In November and December dr Dimitris Bouris will organise the 4th Practitioners Engagement Series in cooperation with the EUMENIA network. This year’s series will engage with a number of topical issues and will also involve several high-level officials, policy-makers and practitioners. Topics will include the EU Global Strategy, EU-Middle East Relations, the EU’s role in conflict resolution in South Caucasus as well as East Mediterranean Energy Geopolitics.
The series opens with a EUMENIA/ACES Webinar with Dr Nathalie Tocci, Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali and Special Adviser to EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, on behalf of whom she wrote the European Global Strategy and is now working on its implementation, notably in the field of security and defence. Dr Tocci will talk about this implementation and will also share insights on what this means for EU-Middle East Relations. The series continues with a talk by Mr Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia. Mr Klaar will focus on the EU’s role in conflict resolution in South Caucasus and will also share insights from his previous role as Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia. In the final event Dr. Alexandros Yannis (European External Action Service) and Prof. Emre Iseri will discuss energy geopolitics in the Eastern Mediterranean in light of recent gas discoveries in the region.
